Mark Moskowitz, MD
Dr.
Moskowitz began his practice in Gastonia in 1980. He received his
medical degree from Boston University and completed his residency
training in general surgery at Emory University. He subsequently
completed postgraduate surgical training in vascular surgery. He
is a former president of the Gaston County Medical Society and served
on the board of directors of Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gaston County
Cancer Society, the Gaston County Heart Society, and Temple Emanuel.
Dr.
Moskowitz performed Gaston County's first laparoscopic gallbladder
removal in 1990. He subsequently performed the county's first inguinal
and , thence, incisional hernia repair by laparoscopy. He has had
a long standing interest in advanced hernia repair techniques and
has presented his material at the American College of Surgeons Annual
Symposium and the American Hernia Society, published on the subject, and participated in multi-institutional
studies.
Dr.
Moskowitz helped start the first vascular lab in Gaston County in
1980 and maintains special interest and abilities in the field of
carotid or stroke prevention surgery, as well as the treatment of
varicose vein disease.

Andrew Light, MD
Andrew
I. Light, M.D., F.A.C.S. joined Carolina Surgery in January 1989.
He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of
Medicine in New Orleans and completed his surgical residency training
at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Subsequently,
he completed a Fellowship in thoracic surgical oncology at the Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He was awarded Intern
of the Year at University of Colorado and was the recipient of the
Ben Eisman Surgical Resident Research Award.
He is a former instructor at the University of Colorado School of
Medicine, and former Chief of Surgery and past Chief of Staff at
Gaston Memorial Hospital. He has served on the Boards of the Gaston
County Cancer Society, Gaston County Heart Association, and the
Board of Gaston Health Care, Inc.
Dr. Light maintains an active interest in lung, colon and breast
cancer as well as in the surgical management of gastroesophageal
reflux disorders.

Sandra Schultz, MD
Dr.
Schultz received her B.S. and Medical Degree from the University
of Wisconsin at Madison and completed her surgical residency at
Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, New York. She subsequently
received post graduate training in breast disease at the Memorial
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York. She is a fellow
of the American College of Surgeons.
A frequent
lecturer on the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, Dr. Schultz
maintains an active interest in recent advances for breast disease
treatment including oncoplastic surgery, stereotactic core biopsy,
ultrasound, and sentinel lymph node biopsy. She is the first surgeon
in Gaston County to perform sentinel node biopsies for breast cancer.
Memberships
include the American Society for Breast Surgeons, American Society
of Breast Disease and American College of Surgeons. She is a Medical
Director for Charlotte Sister's Network and on the Board of Directors
for Mobile Health Outreach.
Dr.
Schultz is a retired Major, United States Army Reserve.

H. Kenneth Williams, Jr., M D, FACS
H. Kenneth Williams, Jr., MD, FACS, a native of Covington, VA, graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA and completed his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. He finished his surgical residence at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 1994.
Following residency, Dr. Williams has practiced general and vascular surgery and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at MCP/Hahnemann School of Medicine. He was actively involved in teaching and research using mini-laparoscopic techniques. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, and the American Society of General Surgeons.
Dr. Williams joined Carolina Surgery in October 2006 and has special interest in advanced laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic colon resection, as well as vascular surgery.

Sheri A Mancini, MD FACS
Sheri A Mancini, MD, FACS is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1996 and completed her surgical residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Mancini received extensive training in advanced laparoscopy and antireflux surgery. During residency, she received awards for her achievements in laparoscopic surgery as well as her excellence in teaching. After residency, she went on to serve in the US Navy. Her service included two overseas deployments, the first as “ship surgeon” aboard an aircraft carrier and the second with a field trauma surgical company in Iraq. LCDR Mancini also served as a staff general surgeon at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Mancini performs a broad range of advanced laparoscopic procedures including: laparoscopic antireflux surgery, laparoscopic colon resection, laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repair, laparoscopic adrenalectomy and laparoscopic splenectomy. |
